Meet Lovisa and Barbie
Meet Lovisa and Barbie, ambassadors for Raw for Paw!
Barbie, an Australian Shepherd, was an unexpected addition to Lovisa and Mathias’s family. The idea was to give her a little time away from a large pack, but on the very day they brought her home they both felt she had a natural place in the family. Both Lovisa and Mathias grew up in homes with dogs as pets, and when they moved in together the house felt empty – something was missing. They started looking at puppies, but then 11-month-old Barbie came along. They have now been together for 3.5 years, and the family has also grown to include a daughter who has just turned 1.5 years old.
The interest in Raw for Paw came through a friend’s work placement, which gave Lovisa a greater insight into the company. She became interested in reading more about the ingredients in the products and appreciates that Raw for Paw uses natural ingredients without lots of filler products. The fact that the packaging is made from eco-friendly paper is a big bonus – she finds that pet products otherwise tend to come in an enormous amount of plastic packaging, which feels unnecessary.

At present they use Digestive Guard, Rosehip Powder, Mobility Guard, and the freeze-dried treats. Previously they have also used Brewer’s Yeast, and she is keen to try Collagen Hydrolysate for Barbie’s dry claws and paw pads. Now that they have switched to fresh food, she also gives Greenies.
“Once I forgot to bring the Digestive Guard when we were away, and Barbie’s tummy was not at all happy. So now I’m extra careful to pack it whenever we go anywhere. At shows she eats a lot of sausage, and it really helps keep her digestion on track.”
They live an active life and Barbie gets to join in with most activities. This summer they are heading up to Åre for hiking, they enjoy running together, and have also taken part in the off-road race Muddy Paws. They are currently active in rally obedience and take part in showing competitions. The favourite part is the grooming – trimming claws and looking after Barbie’s coat. The goal is not to win prizes; they enter because they enjoy it.
“It gives so much – we’ve now got a whole community of Aussie friends through the competitions, which is great fun. We tend to stick to the smaller shows; that’s what feels most enjoyable for us.”
